L.Y. Marlow to attend Books and Beignets

Books and Beignets, a newly formed Monroe book club and social organization, is sponsoring a book signing and discussion to celebrate mothers, daughters and sisters and to focus community awareness on domestic violence. The event is 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Anna Meyer Branch of the Ouachita Parish Public Library
The guest is L.Y. Marlow, author of "Color Me Butterfly," and founder of the nonprofit organization, Saving Promise Campaign. Marlow is profiled in the May 2009 issue of Ebony magazine and she has appeared on national news programs.
Local guest speaker is Eletha Murray, a licensed and ordained evangelist, co-pastor of The Vineyard church and executive administrator of Kinddom Partner Ministries.
